Dupuytren’s contracture and Ledderhose disease are common, with rates of 20% of the population over the age of 65 having either disease. The diseases causes a debilitating curling of fingers and toes. The most common treatment is surgery, which can cause a long-term and painful recovery.
Xstrahl 200’s versatile radiotherapy system can treat these diseases using advanced superficial and orthovoltage treatment techniques. Hear from Dr. John Glees about his experience in the video below.
On the Other Side of the Machine
I have spent more than twenty years in radiation therapy, building systems, advising clinicians, and working to bring this technology to more patients. Last year, I became one of those patients myself. Diagnosed with Dupuytren’s contracture, I went through two rounds of low-dose radiation treatment at the same kind of facility I have spent my career supplying. What followed was one of the most clarifying professional experiences of my life, and a reminder that the gap between understanding a treatment and actually receiving one is wider than most people inside this industry ever appreciate.
