ESTRO 2024

May 3-7, 2024
Glasgow, UK

Xstrahl will spotlight superficial and orthovoltage radiotherapy solutions for skin cancer and benign conditions at ESTRO 2024. The Xstrahl 200 X-ray system delivers both superficial treatments and treatments at depth by combining the capability of orthovoltage X-ray systems with the traditional ease-of-use of superficial radiation therapy. Xstrahl will also preview new internal eye shields during ESTRO. Internal eye shields are a simple yet effective solution to protect the patient’s lenses during superficial and orthovoltage radiation therapy treatments.

In addition, Xstrahl medical director Dr. Richard Shaffer, MD, MBBS, will be available onsite on Sunday, May 5, at 14:00 onward, to provide clinical education about using radiotherapy for benign conditions.

Stop by our stand # 1070 to learn about how our systems can help advance your patient care or research initiatives!

Learn More About Eye Shields

Xstrahl is pleased to have worked with Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the result is an affordable and effective internal eye shield for patient-specific use during radiation therapy. The eye shields are CE marked and come in four sizes. They are coated inside and out so they are smooth enough to prevent irritation to the patient’s cornea during insertion and use.

Each internal eye shield requires sterilizing prior to their first use and then after, and before each subsequent use for that patient. This simple step protects the structures and vision for each patient receiving treatment.

Radiation Therapy for Skin Cancer

While surgical approaches have historically been the standard treatment, many non-melanoma skin cancer patients are candidates for electronic brachytherapy and superficial radiation therapy. Non-invasive radiotherapy techniques may be a better choice for patients with frequently recurring disease, elderly patients, and patients with disease on the head and neck. Xstrahl has a wide range of treatment solutions, based on X-ray techniques, and can meet the superficial treatment requirements of any clinic.

Orthovoltage Radiation for Benign Disease

Orthovoltage radiation therapy is an effective treatment for painful degenerative and inflammatory diseases with few side effects. Positive results of radiation therapy treatment, most of all its symptom relief, are due to many factors including better tissue perfusion, destruction of inflammation in tissue, stimulation of the immune defense cells, neutralization of the acidic tissue and, subsequently, better inflammatory response and influence over the pain fibers of the autonomous vegetative system. Conditions including Dupuytren’s, Peyronie’s Disease, inflammatory disorders, degenerative disorders, and hypertrophic disorders can be treated with radiation therapy.

Perform Clinically Relevant Radiation Experiments

Xstrahl has applied its extensive knowledge of clinical radiation to develop a broad range of radiation research systems. Designed for life science investigators, radiation oncologists, radiation physicists, and many others, Xstrahl’s research platforms yield clinically-relevant translational data.

Xstrahl has improved the accuracy and reproducibility of in vitro and in vivo experiments. With 2D and 3D radiation research platforms having a fixed X-ray source, dual X-ray sources, or a rotating gantry, you can be sure that Xstrahl can uniquely meet the needs of your studies.
